Digest

The episode begins with an interview with Ohio State Representative Josh Williams, who discusses his legislation aimed at curbing gun violence by targeting repeat offenders. Williams, a practicing criminal defense attorney, explains that his bill, House Bill 522, increases penalties for violent repeat felony gun crime offenders while also making it easier for rehabilitated individuals to have their Second Amendment rights restored. He highlights the bipartisan support for the bill and its potential to create a positive impact on community safety. The episode then transitions to a discussion about the ramifications of the Trump trial with Dan McLaughlin, Senior Writer for National Review Online, and Con Carroll, Commentary Editor for the Washington Examiner. McLaughlin argues that the case should never have gone to trial and that the conviction is illegitimate, highlighting the lack of a victim and the questionable legal basis for the charges. Carroll, who previously voted for libertarian candidates, expresses his newfound support for Trump, citing the perceived unfairness of the trial and the need to counter the Democrats' perceived abuse of power. The episode concludes with a segment on "Kylie's Corner," where Kylie Smooth discusses recent news stories, including a billionaire's plan to explore the Titanic wreckage and a San Diego police officer who was caught on body cam footage engaging in inappropriate behavior with a suspect. The episode also features a "sunshine moment" about a World War II veteran who has been a regular customer at a Chandler Arby's for years, forming a bond with the staff and receiving free food for life.
