Obedient followers of Christ should know that they have a priceless gift, one which is more than the whole world: God's presence.
As a result of the Fall, God's presence left humans leaving a void. And no amount of wealth or fame can fill that void. Hence, the discontentment in the lives of all unbelievers.
At the cross, when a sinner repents, God gives her a new life and fills the emptiness in her life with His presence.
However, for the newborn's spirit to flourish, he must put his flesh to death.
God manifests His power through those who have put the flesh to death and carry their cross after their Lord and Savior: And they always stand up for Jesus without fear.
