First, we’ve got a couple updates on Mexico and immigration this morning, including a new rule from the Biden Administration about asylum seekers. But here’s the kicker: it’s actually an old policy promoted by Donald Trump.
Second, we continue our look south of the border to an allegation this morning that the current president of Mexico took cash from the Mexican cartels years ago.
Third, get out your maps and your safari hats because we’re off to Africa this morning. The countries of Tanzania and Uganda are launching a major new oil project that could impact the price you pay for gas — and the price for batteries in those electric vehicles.

Blackwater was a private security company. To compare Blackwater and Wagner is a far stretch. When the Columbian shooting occurred, it was Blackwater Water that came up with Anti-school shootings procedures. Mutiple Police agencies went and trained on Blackwater mount sites to learn how to deal with hostage situations and active shooter situations. Also, Blackwater was one of the major four companies subcontracted by the State Department. Their primary focuse was providing security for government employees, including Civil Services contractors. They weren't ever a private military as Wagner is being used as. Many in the US military did not understand that Blackwater could not fall under the jurisdiction of the DOD. Private security is protected under the Genva Convention, mercs are not. If Blackwater fell under the US military, then it would violate the US agreement of the Genva Convention.
