Description
July 23, 1996. Lafayette, Louisiana. Janice Trahan was diagnosed with HIV in January 1995. She later told the authorities that she believed her former romantic partner, Dr. Richard Schmidt, injected her with the virus in August 1994 after she ended their 10-year affair. This was the first time that a US criminal court would consider phylogenetic evidence in a case.

I can't believe what this poor woman went through at the hands of someone who merely wanted control over her. The devil was truly wearing sheeps clothing on this one. The other thing that infuriated me was he used his power as a Dr to do this! So glad investigators were tenacious enough to get him. Bet he's not smiling anymore!
I think it shows Janice's good character that she goes out of her way to notify all her ex-sexual partners to notify them of her infection status.Its not an easy thing to do. But she did the right thing, contacting. all those who could be involved.
