It's no surprise that people often step down from positions of leadership. Leadership is costly. It demands physical and emotional energy, time, and resources. Many placed in the same difficult position as Nehemiah would have quit. He faced ever-increasing opposition in his mission to rebuild Jerusalem's wall. Yet Nehemiah 4:1-9 shows that Israel's leader didn't back down, and the wall kept going up. How did he do it? Nehemiah pressed into prayer.
