Teddy Swims Talks AC/DC, Tattoos & The Real Cost of Fame
Description
Teddy Swims joins Maroon & Hindy on Triple M’s Rush Hour fresh off his massive NRL Grand Final performance. The viral moment? His powerhouse cover of AC/DC’s T.N.T. - a tribute to Aussie rock that blew up social media feeds across the country.
Teddy opens up about how he was first introduced to Acca Dacca and why Aussie rock means so much to him.
“Everybody’s paid and fed, so I would say that’s pretty successful,” he laughs - reflecting on the grind behind the glory. Despite 8.7 billion global streams and arena tours around the world, Teddy admits that 2024 was the first year he actually made money:
“I actually made money for the first time last year. It took five years of touring for us to start seeing anything. And it wasn’t much either - I think we made twenty grand or something like that.”
We also dive into his creative process - from songs that come to him in his sleep, to waking up with strange voice memos and decoding them later in the studio. “Some of them are just me mumbling half a lyric or humming a melody at 3 a.m.,” he says.
Teddy also chats tattoos - the favourites, the mistakes, and the meaning behind them - before wrapping up the chat by taking on Hindy in a chaotic quiz: NRL vs NFL.
