Description

Today on the final episode of Spanning the State Kristin Brey starts the show with speaking to America Corps Reporter Madeline Heim about the role of Wetlands in our state’s ecosystem. Heim explains the value of Wetlands, what the 6 world renowned wetlands Wisconsin is home to, what inspired her to write her series on them and why they need to be drained. Then Kristin talks about a new proposal to manage how referendums are written on our ballots to make the wording less confusing. Later Milwaukee’s Sojourner Family Peace Center Chief Executive Carmen Pitre joins Kristin to discuss how federal funding and administrative directives are impacting the organization providing services for victims of Domestic Violence. Pitre shares what ramifications Sojourner and other partners have faced with federal funding cuts, what services are at risk from these cuts, what kind of funding they received before and what Wisconsin Politicians have come to help.
