Gypsy Rose Blanchard's illnesses began when she was an infant. Her mother, DeeDee Blanchard, took her to the hospital often for a variety of symptoms. DeeDee told her daughter that she suffered from various diseases. All of this turned out to be a lie.
Join Mike and Morf as they discuss Gypsy Rose Blanchard. As Gypsy got older she wanted to date and live her life. DeeDee didn't want this because she needed to keep Gypsy isolated. When Gypsy met a man named Nicholas Godejohn, they eventually settled on the idea that DeeDee needed to die.

Morf needs to educate himself about coercive control because he clearly knows nothing about it. Gypsy was controlled in every way, by her mother and later by her boyfriend, because she knew nothing else. She wasn't even capable to think past the moment she was in because she was never able to develop those skills. Her mother did everything for her, including speaking. Gypsy was only doing what she thought was the only way out, and to be fair it likely was. Dee Dee was slowly killing her.
