They’ve interviewed Shirley Mason (the real Sybil) and she stated that it was faked. She said she made it up and never had dissociative identity disorder. Whether or not that’s true is in question but I don’t think she should be used as an example, since her diagnosis is up for debate.
"Multiple Personality Disorder" is an outdated term. It's currently called Dissociative Identity Disorder. And "Sybil" was proven to be a hoax.
